Are you feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed? Was your birth difficult? Or perhaps traumatic? Have you experienced miscarriage or the tragic loss of your baby?
There's a commonly used phrase that falls on the ears of all new parents in the context of birth trauma or mental health: 'all that matters is a new healthy baby'.
But guess what? YOU. MATTER. TOO.
And that's why I have chosen to join a quiet revolution in perinatal mental health by investing in specialist training with Traumatic Birth Recovery, College of Perinatal Emotional Health. I have trained in the following areas
- Traumatic Birth Recovery (I am the first Accredited 3 Step Rewind Practitioner in NZ)
- Supporting Baby Loss, and miscarriage
- Understanding perinatal anxiety and how to build emotional resilience.
My style is solution focused and active! This means there are tools for parents to practice in their own time to enhance their wellbeing. With these therapeutic skills and techniques, I aim to appropriately and effectively support parents who have experienced birth trauma and/or baby loss or miscarriage or are struggling with mild to moderate anxiety, with a service that acknowledges and prioritises their needs safely and gently.

“All that matters is a healthy baby? This short-sighted attitude not only ignores the importance of the mother's health and wellbeing, it denies the impact this has on the health of the baby... The same baby which is supposedly the top priority."
